Connect Grella to your AI client
Grella's read-only MCP connector lets supported AI clients search your legal matters and return links to the supporting material in Grella. You need an active Grella account. Your existing organization and matter permissions apply to every request.
The remote server URL is https://api.grella.ai/mcp.
- Open the custom connector or MCP server settings in your AI client.
- Add the server URL as a remote Streamable HTTP connection.
- Choose OAuth, then sign in to Grella in your browser.
- Review and approve the connection. Ask the client to list your accessible matters, then choose the matter you want to search.
The connection authorizes read access to the Grella content your account can already access. Check your organization's policies and the AI client's terms before connecting.
What you can read
- Accessible matters and matter summaries.
- Files, folders, classified legal documents, and processed document text.
- Extracted facts and their supporting evidence.
- Chronologies, work products, and authorized chat history.
- Matter objects, suggestions, and the evidence supporting those suggestions.
You can ask, "List my accessible Grella matters," or "Find documents about the due diligence costs in this matter and show the sources."
The connector cannot upload files, change matters, edit facts or work products, send messages, or delete Grella data.
Check the supporting evidence
Search and fact tools return excerpts with links to the supporting material in Grella. Open a link to inspect the source file, page, or passage when available. Check the source before relying on an AI answer.
Document descriptions may be generated by AI. The connector labels those descriptions so you can distinguish them from the original document text.
Matter summaries and search results have size limits. A summary or one search result is not a complete review of every document in a matter. Your AI client can request further results where the tool supports it.
Data handling
When you use the connection, Grella sends the requested, authorized tool results to the AI client you connect. Results can include document text, facts, work products, chats, citations, and matter details.
The connected client and its provider process and may retain those results under their own terms and privacy policy. Disconnecting a client does not remove copies or outputs that provider already holds.
Grella records MCP telemetry for authentication, security, reliability, rate limiting, and support. MCP analytics events do not intentionally include bearer tokens, raw document text, excerpts, raw queries, or work-product content.
Read Grella's privacy policy and terms of service.
Manage or disconnect a connection
Use the connected AI client's settings to disconnect Grella. If you need help revoking a connection or checking access, contact Grella support. Your organization's matter and membership permissions continue to apply.
If sign-in expires or the client asks you to reconnect, sign in through the Grella OAuth flow again. Access errors can also mean your Grella account does not have permission to read the requested matter.
